Published under the title “Alzheimer’s Disease: Utilizing Gene/Protein Network Machine Learning for Molecule Discovery in Olive Oil” in Human Genomics, the study has illuminated the profound burden AD imposes on individuals and society at large. However, the neuroprotective properties of EVOO have garnered considerable attention, especially in the context of the Mediterranean diet, which is abundant in this valuable substance and has shown a reduced risk of dementia and cognitive decline.
The primary aim of the researchers was to unlock the therapeutic potential of EVOO for AD through harnessing the power of AI. By utilizing network machine learning and graph neural networks, they meticulously examined the interactions between bioactive compounds in EVOO and the intricate pathways involved in AD.
