ML aids non-Gaussian study of nerve changes from e-stimulation

Exploring the benefits of electrical stimulation on the peripheral nervous system (PNS) is gaining importance in treating various disorders. Understanding how and when electrical stimulation affects the structure of peripheral nerves is crucial. In our study, we utilized a convolutional neural network and support vector machines to analyze histological samples of ratsciatic nerves. By simplifying the language, we aimed to make our findings accessible. The machine learning techniques efficiently segmented cells, and multivariate analysis uncovered significant anatomical changes in nerves, even at stimulation levels considered safe according to the Shannon current limits.
